The Fed Is Watching Jobs Closely — So Should Homebuyers!

The job market is showing clear signs of cooling — and that matters for mortgage rates.
Private hiring is slowing, layoffs are rising, and job openings are shrinking. At the same time, markets are waiting on the delayed January Jobs Report, which could move mortgage rates quickly depending on the results.
We’re also watching changes at the Federal Reserve, with President Trump naming Kevin Warsh as his pick for Fed Chair — a move that could impact how long rates stay elevated.
Despite all of this, housing demand remains strong, with home prices projected to rise over the next year due to low inventory and pent-up demand.
